All the black and white drawings are intact. No frontis as issued , no catalogue to rear. The front board top and bottom right-hand corners are slightly bumped, otherwise it is straight. The black is slightly faded. The spine is straight but sunned. The gilt lettering and emblem is bright and bold, with the emblem being in the middle of the spine, indicating that this book is a very rare, true first edition. The front-end paper has a small, neat inscription, Dated 1932. The internal pages are clean. The hinge has pulled on pages 128/129. The text block has some minor foxing, this has not spread to the internal pages.
Dust wrapper/Third edition Dust wrapper. The front cover right hand top and bottom corners have chips. There is a 2cm closed tear to the top right-hand edge. This has been taped to the rear. The bottom front flap hinge has three tiny holes with a split between measuring 1.5cm. There is also an additional 1cm hole to the bottom edge, with tiny chips running along the entire bottom edge. The top of the spine is rubbed, with tiny chips. The top front cover hinge has a 3cm closed tear that has been taped to the rear. The bottom edge of the spine has loss 4cm up and running 3.5cm across, loosing “milton” from the publisher John Hamilton. There is a closed tear running from the top of the chip, measuring 3.5cm. This has been taped to the rear. The back cover has a 1cm closed tear to the top edge. This is taped to the rear. There is also a 1cm closed tear to the top edge and another to the bottom edge measuring 1.5 cm. The rear flap top edge has a 2cm closed tear and the corner is chipped. The font flap hinge has a closed 1cm split. The entire jacket front and rear is clean. Price cut.SR
