First edition in Scarce Original Dust wrapper
The boards and spine are clean, bright and straight. The front end paper and inside boards have a  brown strip where the wrapper flaps have made a mark There  are two scribbles to the front end paper (2.5 X2 cm) There is foxing to the top of the text block and the long side has some brown marks. Internally the pages are clean and bright and the binding is tight.
Dust wrapper/ The front cover is bright and clean. There is a 1 cm closed tear with a crease to the bottom edge. Thee is also a tiny chip. The top and bottom right hand corners have small chips. There are minor rubs to the top edge. The top of the spine has some loss with creases attached, not affecting the title. The bottom edge has a 1.5 cm x 1 cm chip with loss attached at the bottom running along to the back cover, there are rubs attached. The "S" in Newnes is missing.The back cover has a 2cm tear to the bottom spine hinge. The top edge has a 1cm closed tear and a tiny additional one. The top right hand corner has a chip attached to the loss at the top of the spine and a 2cm closed tear. The left hand top corner has tear with some loss. The top edge of the front and rear flaps are curled. Not price cut.A scarce wrapper.The Steeley books had lower print runs than Biggles so are scarcer in wrappers./1874
