This copy is the American edition which was the only American published John's book.
The spine is slightly cocked. The boards and spine are clean and bright with slight fading and rubs to the top and bottom edges. The top and bottom of the spine are slightly rubbed but the lettering is bold and clear. The text block is rubbed with some very minor edge loss to places. There is a name in pen to the front end paper. The internal pages are clean and bright and the binding is tight.
Dust wrapper/ The front cover has  1cm and a 1/2 cm closed tears to the bottom edge with creases attached. The top edge has a tiny closed tear. The bottom of the front flap has a tiny chip and the top has a rub.The top of the spine has edge loss with a 1.5cm and a 1/2 cm closed tear on each side. The bottom of the spine has 4.5cm loss. The back cover is a little grubby. There is a 1cm closed tear to the top and a 1.5 cm closed tear to the bottom edge, with a second tiny one. The bottom of the rear flap hinge has an open tear 1.5cm x 0.5cm with a tiny hole above. Not price cut. The rear of the jacket is clean and bright./1998
