Hans Andersen's Fairy Tales
The boards and spine are clean. The top of the front board has a 1cm scratch. The corners have tiny rubs. The gilt lettering and pictorial illustration are bright and bold. The gilt border to the top and bottom of the spine is rubbed, but the lettering is bright and bold. The rear board is faded to the edges and the corners are rubbed and bumped. The front end paper has a neat inscription. There is foxing to the text block and the first 50 pages. The hinge has pulled on pages 16-25. Some later illustrations have been coloured in. The colour plates and frontis are all complete.
Dust wrapper/ The top left hand corner of the front panel and spine has loss measuring 2.5cm x 4.5cm. There is an additional 2cm x 1.5cm loss to the top of the spine with edge loss. The top edge of the front panel has minor edge loss and a 1cm closed tear. The top and bottom of the front flap hinge has chips. The bottom of the spine has two areas of loss. One measures 4.5cm x 2cm and the other measures 1.5cm x 1.5cm. The top of the rear panel has a 1.5cm closed tear with several tiny closed tears. The top of the rear flap hinge as a 4.5cm tear and a chip to the bottom, with a 4.5cm closed tear attached. There are three horizontal tears to the middle of the hinge. The rear of the spine is rubbed.
