Biggles in the South Seas W E Johns signed
This copy is signed with an inscription from the author W E Johns. The inscription reads “ To Michael. With best wishes for Christmas, from the author W E Johns 1940"
The pictorial boards are reasonably clean, and the illustration and title are bold and clear. There is some minor rubbing to the edges. The spine is square but slightly sunned, with some grubby marks. The top and bottom edges have some rubs. The rear board is straight with some rubs and grubby marks. The text block is foxed, and this has spread to some margins and particularly to the half title page and first and last pages The internal pages are otherwise clean and bright. The colour frontis is bright and bold and the black and white illustrations throughout are all intact. The binding is tight. The Front and rear inside boards and end papers are clean. There is an inscription from the author W E johns to the front-end paper ( see photo and inscription is written above).
Dust wrapper/This is from a medium thick book as the rear list has Spitfire Parade at the bottom. This would indicate that the wrapper is from 1941. There are creases down the front cover and back cover. The crease to the spine is very faint and only visible from the rear. The front cover has two minor chips to the bottom edge and one to the top edge. The top of the spine has minor nicks and the bottom has slight rubs. The rear cover has two tiny chips to the bottom edge. The entire jacket front and rear is clean and bright. Price cut.SR
