The front boards have some fading to the spine hinges, more on the rear board. The spine is very slightly cocked, causing the front board to be slightly sprung. The front board top and bottom right hand corners are bumped. The front end paper and inside board are foxed and crinkled with a small ink stamp to the front end paper that has transferred to the inside board. The text block is foxed and this has spread to the front inside board and end paper, front and rear. Also to the half title page and rear end paper, front and back. The colour frontis is bright and bold. The internal pages are clean and bright. The binding is reasonably tight.
Dust wrapper/ The front cover has creases to the top and bottom edges. The bottom edge has a 2cm closed tear with creases  and a 1/2cm closed tear. The front flap hinge is rubbed and the top and bottom have chips. There is a crease with rubs to the spine front cover hinge. The spine has loss to the top and bottom not affecting the title or publisher. The Johns at the top has a crease and the D in Oxford at the bottom is rubbed. The back cover is a little grubby with tiny closed tears and creases to the top and bottom edges. All four corners have small chips. The top of the front and rear flaps are curled. Not price cut. There is  a 1/2 cm closed tear near the price.The rear of the jacket is reasonably clean.
