    First edition first printing.Correct thickness book in price cut original wrapper.Signed by Margaret Johns to the top of front end paper,see photo. 

    Margaret Johns was W E Johns niece and this book was part of her personal collection. Margaret inherited W.E.Johns book collection.An explanation will be provided with purchase.

    The front board is clean and straight. The top right hand corner is slightly bumped.and there are some minor rubs to edges/hinges and to spine. The lettering and pictorial illustration are bold and clear. The spine is straight,faint stains to lower spine. The rear board has a minor stain with minor rubs. The inside boards and end papers are clean and bright. The frontis is bright and bold but has come loose. There is some foxing to the text block and this has spread to some internal pages. The binding is reasonably tight.

    Dust wrapper/ A REPLICA WRAPPER HAS BEEN PUT BEHIND THE LOSS TO THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE SPINE AND FRONT,THIS MAKES THE LOSS HARD TO DESCRIBE,SEE PHOTOS CAREFULLY.The front cover is clean and bold. The top right hand corner has a chip with a 2cm closed tear attached. The top edge is creased with minor rubs. There is a piece missing 2 and 1/2 x 5cm to the top left hand corner. There is a piece missing 1cm deep from the top of the spine attached to this chip. This has been repaired from behind and reinforced. The bottom edge has small loss to the right hand corner and a chip 4cm x 1cm in the middle. There is a chip on the left hand corner with a 4cm closed tear attached. The bottom of the spine has some loss running along with the worst of the loss to the left hand side. This too has been reinforced from the reverse with a piece of replica wrapper. The back cove has a 2cm chip to the top left hand side and a chip with a 3cm closed tear to the bottom left hand corner. There is a 1cm closed tear to the middle of the top edge. The front and rear flaps are good. Price cut. The rear flap folds have splits about 2 cm with small loss,crease to bottom edge and small closed tear to top edge. The upper rear of the jacket has a red mark otherwise near vg/1640
