Variant colour binding brown instead of Blue with doubloon on front board.
The front and rear boards and spine a little rubbed, mainly to edges. Minor rubs/bumps to corners corners but nothing serious. There is a pen indentation to the front board. The doubloon on this variant is not gold or raised like the blue first edition. faint crease to centre of spine and some minor creases/ rubs to spine bottom.Internally the front end paper has had a book plate removed, causing paper to transfer to front inside board. There is a boldish number to inside board, suggesting it may have been a private library book, but otherwise there is no more evidence of this. The front end paper and inside board are browned. the colour frontis by Howard Leigh is bright and bold and the internal pages are clean and bright.Minor foxing to text block the binding is tight.
