Specialists in W.E. Johns and collectable books

Based in Oxted, Barely Read Books is a specialist in W. E. Johns, aviation and children's books. We have long been W. E. Johns enthusiasts and began ‘Biggles and Co’ (the well-known W. E. Johns magazine now renamed ‘Biggles Flies Again’) with the late John Trendler.

At one stage we had a complete collection of W. E. Johns’ books. We were able to purchase from one collector all the pre-war Oxfords in fine wrappers. From these came the excellent replica wrappers that you see listed on AbeBooks, eBay and this website. These are true to the originals in all respects.

We have bought and sold books for over 35 years and had a shop in Westerham for 10 of these. After this, we began our eBay bookselling business. We have sold over 4000 books on eBay with 100% positive feedback. We now list weekly on AbeBooks and have a near complete W.E.Johns collection to sell. This includes some stunning rarities.

We have now relaunched Barely Read Books with a new improved website. I hope that you find the website of interest and that we can be of service to you soon.
